One of only two mountain ranges in the world to run directly North-South, and spectacular to boot, The Remarkables is aptly named. This excursion takes you over the winding Shotover and Kawarau rivers and up to this dramatic mountain range for our landing – and if you’re flying in winter we may even land in the snow! Take in the beauty of the lake, the town and the surrounding mountains (and definitely take some photographs) before we head back to base.

This truly is our favourite location and exclusively available as a landing location to Heliworks!
Fly over schist covered slopes with a bird’s eye views of Queenstown’s historical goldmining sites on the way to this incredible landing site. A filming location for LOTR’s The Hobbit and recently featured on TV’s Travel Guides.
Land on the valley floor and explore, with the blue ice of the Earnslaw Glacier towering above. See the astounding number of waterfalls spilling down the valley walls.
**Please take note that during the winter months the Earnslaw Burn does not have as many fast flowing waterfalls compared to the spring/summer/autumn months. This is still a stunning and magical location even in the winter months, however we would like you to be aware of this.

Your ears fill with the rush of waterfalls, your eyes feast on the dazzling glacier hanging above you, your nose enjoys the fragrant, local wine in your glass.
All other picnics pale in comparison to this one.
The perfect romantic trip for proposals, honeymooners and anniversaries, or for those wanting an unforgettable experience, this excursion lets you enjoy the magic of the Earnslaw Burn up close and personal. As the only company permitted to land here, and made famous by the LOTR/The Hobbit trilogies, this location is our favourite for several very good reasons.
*There are fewer waterfalls in the winter months, but the glacier becomes more immense and spectacular with snowfall,so it is a magical place all year round.

The famous Fiordland region is a World Heritage Site. Filled with pristine alpine lakes, roaring waterfalls, glaciers, fjords and rugged mountains, this area has it all – and with three stunning landings; and alpine lake, glacier and in the stunning Earnslaw Burn, you will experience it all on this incredible journey.
Our adventure begins out of Queenstown, flying over Ben Lomond and the Richardson Mountains, past rustic Glenorchy village, and continuing high up in the alps to picturesque Lake Erskine.
Next we head to the source of the mighty Sutherland Falls. Lake Quill feeds this monstrous waterfall, with a drop of 580m/1,900 ft and a very loud roar to match.
Milford Sound is calling. Leaving the falls, we skip over to the rugged West Coast, sweeping past iconic Mitre Peak. From here we make a beeline towards Mt Tutoko – the highest peak in Fiordland – before circling back to land at the Earnslaw Burn.
With a hanging glacier overhead, and waterfalls cascading down around you, the Earnslaw Burn is a sight to behold. Even in winter when many of the waterfalls have frozen dry, the glacier swells with fresh, dazzling snowfall. It’s a magical place.
This is our final stop before we fly back home, passing over the historic gold mining sites of Skippers Canyon.
Didn’t we say this trip has it all?

Remote and spectacular, Doubtful Sound is less visited than its more popular counterpart Milford Sound but we think that makes it even more special.
Your scenic helicopter flight will start by taking you across Lake Wakatipu with a bird’s eye view of Queenstown before we cross the Mavora Lakes to Lake Te Anau.
World Heritage Fiordland National Park now unfolds in front of you as we soar over Doubtful Sound itself. Magnificent alpine mountain peaks tower above the pristine waters of this exceptional corner of New Zealand. Dolphins and seals reside along the shoreline and numerous birds rise above, from wood pigeons and hawks to the indigenous keas and kakas.
Now we circle into the hidden valley of Campbell’s Kingdom, with a distinctly prehistoric appearance and complete with lake and waterfall – a really spectacular place!
Return to the Heliworks base over the mountains of southwest Fiordland, with countless alpine lakes, and views of Lake Manapouri – the lake of many islands.
Your final stop before arriving back at base is an alpine landing for a bird’s eye view of Queenstown and the Wakatipu basin. An adventure you will never forget!

A fantastic introduction to Middle Earth.
Departing from Queenstown Airport your helicopter tour takes you towards the steep ridges of the Misty Mountains.
Climbing ever higher the first stop is the Dimrill Dale, lying between two great arms of the mountains. This valley marks the western door of the great Gates of Khazad-dum (Moria) and Mirrormere, source of the River Silverlode.
Then continue across Lake Wakatipu (Nen Hithoel) to fly over Amon Hen, scene of the Breaking of the Fellowship. Excellent views can be obtained of the forest where Lurtz fought his final battle against Aragorn, Boromir, Legolas and Gimli. You will also see the site of the Ilithien camp where Frodo and Sam hid from the battle and first saw the Oliphants.
Heading now towards the River Bruinen, you see the Ford, scene of the desperate encounter between Arwen and the Black Riders. Homeward bound, to your left can be seen glimpses of the River Anduin (location of the Gates of Argonath) before landing

Leaving Queenstown Airport climb the steep slopes of the Misty Mountains to the Dimrill Dale and the great Gates of Khazad-dum. Mirrormere, source of the River Silverlode also lies below and after a pause for photographs we cross Lake Wakatipu itself (Nen Hithoel) towards Amon Hen, scene of the Breaking of the Fellowship.
Excellent views can be obtained of the forest where Lurtz fought his final battle against Aragorn, Boromir, Legolas and Gimli. We also see the site of the Ilithien camp where Frodo and Sam hid from the battle and first saw the Oliphants.
We now continue Westward for a landing atop Mt Alfred (Dol Baran) where the vista of Nan Curunir (scene of Isengard and the Tower of Orthanc) unfolds. The great forest beckons, and as we fly over the outskirts of Lothlorien, the massive peaks of the Misty Mountains tower overhead.
We now travel East towards the old gold mining area of Skippers before flying over the River Bruinen, scene of the desperate encounter between Arwen and the Black Riders.
