We’re proud to engage with our community’s next generation!
By choosing Heliworks Queenstown, you are not only embarking on an unforgettable journey through the stunning landscapes of New Zealand but also supporting a business deeply committed to their preservation and the well-being of our community. Together, we can nurture the skies and honour our heritage for generations to come.
At Heliworks Queenstown, we love sharing our passion for helicopters and the incredible world around us with local kids! We regularly welcome groups like the Queenstown Pippins and the Whakatipu Wild School for fun and educational visits. Got any little explorers who'd love a peek behind the scenes at our helicopters? Reach out to arrange a tour of our hangar and fleet!
Heliworks Queenstown is proud to support Uplift In Kind—an initiative that creates unforgettable experiences for children and families facing tough times. As the only Queenstown-based helicopter operator involved, we’re honoured to help uplift spirits with scenic flights that bring joy, hope, and a touch of magic from above.
Our highly skilled pilots and specialised equipment are invaluable assets in search and rescue operations, working alongside other essential services to bring people home safely. Our hangar in Queenstown also serves as a base for the Search and Rescue teams to operate meetings, have space to train and a base to keep all essential gear when emergencies happen.
At Heliworks Queenstown, we’re proud to play an active role in supporting Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) across the region. Our helicopters and experienced pilots are on standby to assist in critical operations, including firefighting, search and rescue, and emergency response in remote locations. Beyond the skies, several members of our team are also dedicated FENZ volunteers—giving their time and expertise to protect our community both on the ground and from the air.
Last Movember, our Heliworks pilots proudly sprouted moustaches to raise awareness and funds for men's health. They embraced the cause, sparking conversations and showing their support for mental health, suicide prevention, and cancer awareness. We're proud of their efforts in contributing to this important initiative and supporting the well-being of our community. Check us out for the next one here
Heliworks Queenstown is proud to have supported the construction of the Kimi Ākau Bridge and its bike trail — a key link in the region’s infrastructure. Named Kimi Ākau, meaning “looking for the coast”, the name echoes early Māori journeys along the Shotover River in search of a route to the West Coast — long before gold miners arrived. Our helicopters provided vital aerial support, transporting materials and personnel into otherwise inaccessible areas. It’s one more way we’re proud to support Queenstown’s progress, both from above and on the ground.
We’re committed to making our experiences as inclusive as possible. For guests with limited mobility, we offer aviation-compatible wheelchairs and tailored support to ensure safe and comfortable access to our helicopters. Our team is here to help plan the best flight experience—just reach out to discuss how we can make it work for you.
We regularly donate scenic flight vouchers to local charities and community groups for fundraising auctions and raffles. This allows us to share the beauty of our region while helping these organisations achieve their vital goals. If you are a local charity or community group seeking a voucher donation for your fundraising efforts, please contact us with details of your event and how our contribution can make a difference. Last year Heliworks donated 37 vouchers to our wider community valued at $30,000.
Heliworks Queenstown is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen our community and protect our unique environment. We carefully consider sponsorship opportunities that align with our values and allow us to make a meaningful impact. If you have a community project or event seeking sponsorship, please contact us.
Heliworks supports the Arrowtown Choppers Beech Party by helping transport trees to the planting sites multiple times throughout the year. This helps make the planting process more efficient and supports the group’s long-term goal of restoring natural forest behind Arrowtown. With almost 30,000 trees planted around Sawpit Gully, replacing cleared wilding pines with native species is helping create more habitat for native birds, lizards and insects, while protecting the area’s unique biodiversity.
